Windy weekend kept water muddy, and kept us up in protected areas, with strong currents.
Comfortable, but not much fishing. sharks and rays on bait. saw no reds in the grass.
But Monday was fair.
Anchored in a hole and tried bait, soft plastic and flies.
Had a sea turtle around the boat for a long while - within 8 feet at one point.
My friend caught a mantis shrimp on small bait - go figure.
Then switched to drifting shoreline - he hooked a monster spec, but lost it next to the boat.
he switched to wading the shore, and I worked it from the boat.
took off my shrimp pattern, for a red and white clouser - if specs were the thing.
The immediately found a small pod of reds busting bait in the grass.
First cast to them I watched two peel off and compete for the fly. Got my first red on fly.
They came back once more. and I got a second.
Then time to get back to the ramp while there was enough water to make it
home
