I don't know about that, but a little splash of beer on the gills of a flailing mahi will kill it in a heartbeat. Watched the mate in Costa Rica do it years ago with a bull that was making a mess of the cockpit. Lesson: Do not substitute beer for coke!

Hmmmm. Next time I intend to keep a fish I will conduct an experiment and report back....
