tfo bvk #8 rod and cabela wlx reel vs. bvk reel
Hey I was interested in this package from cabela. What do you guys think of the wlx reel made by lamson? The rod and reel combo is dirt cheap but would I be wise to save up and get the tfo bvk reel? The tfo bvk rod and wlx reel with backing and fly line runs for 409 whereas the tfo rod and reel would cost around 500 without any line. I would probably put 8wt line on the reel.

I got 10 Redington rod/reel combos for my local fly club. Two of which are 8 weights....the combo price was $210 for rod, reel, line, leader, backing, case. You can cast them a mile....Sarah used that 8 weight at a fly show to demonstrate casting to the public! I have used the 8 weight for bass and stripers in the Chesapeake. Now...I would not take the reel somewhere to catch, large albies or tuna but it worked fine. It is a super starter fly rod, reel! I do not know where you fish locally but for smallmouths, small stripers...purrrrfect!
Use this for awhile....save up to get another reel.....thenyou have a back-up then the insanity begins.....buy 13 weights, 3 weights..who knows

I own 4 Redington rods ... all were purchased as "back-ups" for trips.
Funny, but I now fish them more often than the primary rods they were
supposed to replace.
I broke the 10 wt on the chine of a Pathfinder once. Had a replacement
back to me in 5 days ... not kidding.
The best Cust Svc in the industry. Personally can not think of one downside thing to say about the company.

I had a Redington 8 wht tip broken off by a fellow fishing with me several years ago. I sent the rod back hoping to get the tip replaced. Surprise! They sent me a brand new rod that was a later model and better rod than the one I sent them for repair! I was a Happy Camper!
