hitch system reccomendations

Postby ramjom » Mon Sep 04, 2017 3:00 am

Ok, I'm done installing my receiver hitch on my Wrangler and now I'm looking for a good hitch system. I heard good things about the Equalizer hitch since it acts as a weight distribution hitch and anti-sway control at the same time. Does anyone have one? The total weight of my boat and trailer is around 4,000 lbs. Thanks guys for any inputs.

What is the towing capacity of your Wrangler? Many have 3500 pound rating, so if your rig is 4000 pounds you are over. I have no experience with the Equalizer hitch but you should not tow something over weight, especially at highway speeds. And towing capacity includes gear in the vehicle as well (including extra humans). You might want to go to a jeep forum and ask there.

Sorry for the late response. My JK has 3.73 gear and the trailer has surge brakes. The guys from a jeep forum told me that it would be fine as long as I drive slowly and steadily.

surge breaks will help a lot. The big think towing with smaller truck is stopping
