Roanoke River

Postby Ctuk » Sun May 08, 2011 7:26 am

Fished from the landing to below the rock on Monday and Saturday. Found an empty kayak overturned on the rocks and could not find the kayaker. Rescue squad came. He had fallen off and was swept down stream to well below the landing. Not hurt thankfully. His partner had paddled with him until he made it to the bank.

Was surprised at the number of fly fishermen (and women) there both days. Saturday at least half of the boats were using a fly rod. Monday was great with large fish being caught on flies, jigs, and live bait.

Saturday was slow. A few were being hooked...mostly on live bait and a few on flies. Water was higher and the cold front had moved through. They are plenty of fish in the river. Always a lot of fun.
