Shad inthe James, Richmond

Postby TLT » Sun Apr 03, 2011 4:13 pm

Reading the last two reports, I tried my hand today. Started slowly but then pretty good above 95. Big Americans and they ate little black clousers. Then the bite completely stopped and we went to down to the Rockett lLanding area. the bite was pretty good there, and this time they wanted bigger all chartreuse flies.Great day with lots of good sized fish. Only down size was the almost 1.5 hour wait to get he boat out. The ramp looked like fifteen monkeys trying to do you know what to a football.

Black? wow I will call the shop and have them put it on the list of colors.

Yeah I don't do the James on weekends, too crazy. Heading out Friday I think.

Sweet stuff Tom. Great run of Amrericans from what it looks like this year. Sure the scene at the ramp was interesting to say the least. Time to do a recon trip in Mobjack!!

Main probelm at the ramp was a really low tide at low tide; that created the jam up or the monkey blitz ;) . I miss PA Em especailly the Hendricksons and BWO's around this time of year. todd, let meknow when you are doing a a Mobjack recon. I think the water is still too cool, but they are catching big stripers in the bay up north jigging and in the Rapp trolling. Jeff, the black fly worked before the sun got on the water.
