Downtown shad run, my turn!

Postby mb82 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 4:56 pm

So Dad got out twice this week, the bum. Another great day on the water, started out slow but once we zeroed in on the fish yeah it was a massacre. 50 fish for me in 3 hours we were on them 20 for Dad, all over 1 lb going up to several 3 lb roe shad. 7-8 doubles with Dad and one I will call a triple. I was landing one fish when he hooked another, I got my fish off and proceeded to hook another fish about 4 strips into the next cast before he could land his.

Had 3 fly guys lined up and at one point all 5 fishermen were hooked up at once. Made me feel good considering I listened to a guy make comments about "those flyfishermen" at the ramp as we were putting in.

It is not difficult. Just don't be stubborn about fishing where you think they will be. Oh yeah, and a flyrod is the most effective tool when conditions are as good as they are right now. I can recreate the same exact cast over and over all day long till my arms fall off. Which I think my right one is about to fall off right now.
