Needed pullage ...

Postby meatstick » Tue Feb 15, 2011 10:13 am

With the talk of brown trout on streamers in Mossy Creek (previous thread) I just had to get some pullage ... went to my local pond. Yes, it's kinda like shooting ducks in a barrel but I wanted to try out a stonefly pattern given to me by John Baker at Tie-Fest (one of the Erie, PA troopers).

Well, the fly was a dismal failure ... only caught 4 bows on the first 5 casts. Ha !!

Could only stand being out there 1/2 hr in the cold wind. Even had trouble unlocking the car door. Fingers no workie.

Yes, the cork rings have separated on the grip just above the fish's dorsal ... you can get a credit card in the gap. Some of Orvis's advanced technology I presume. Hey, the rod was a gift.

Should I return it ?

I could go for a pond like that right about now. Is it cold up there? I was walking around in shorts yesterday.

Yesterday the airtemp got to 64, but at night the bottom dropped out again.

Re-read my post again Jeff, about the rod.

Didn't catch that. Looks like a power matrix. Send it back, either they will put a new grip on it or better yet you get an Access rod( new replacement for the power matrix much lighter and great performance for the money) Seen other issues with cork, but thats a new one. Most of those issues came when we were selling 400% more rods then we expected and had to double the workforce in the rod shop.
