South Holston in beautiful Possum Creek, TN

Postby Riprock » Thu Nov 04, 2010 6:34 pm

Three of us waded the South Holston for the first time last Friday. Lord, forgive me for not knowing what I've been missing. It's a beautiful river and our Altamont Anglers guide put us on the fish. Watching a tuft of yarn with a #18 scud trailing a #20 midge dropper is quite a bit different from slinging a Clouser with an 8 weight, but we caught some brilliantly colored fish, just none of the 20-25 inch bruisers hiding under the ledges. Got to save something for next time. This is a great alternative to banging elbows on the Davidson when I visit Asheville.

Took my first trip to the South Holston this past Spring. I will be going back for sure. Glad to hear you had a great time.
