Carp on the fly

Postby Siessmack » Sun Oct 24, 2010 9:44 pm

Went fishing at Lake Manassas up here in Virginia a week ago and saw several carp tailing in shallow water. Put on a small crayfish pattern and casted out over a rocky point. (Fish had stopped tailing at this point) Next thing I know feels like I'm hooked up to a red. Took 10 minutes to bring him in, while drinking a bud light of course. 27 inches long, im guessing 6-7 pounds, the boga was in the truck. First carp I've ever caught, they are ugly as hell. Heading back there this week to see if I can get another! 8-)

Nice work. Dark rubber legged nymphs and San Juan worms work well too.

Addictive little buggers aren't they?
