GoPro Hero 2 New Firmware

Postby kendalloz » Fri Oct 12, 2012 9:30 am

GoPro has released new firmware for the Hero 2 that lets the camera capture more detail. Also, the camera does less "in camera" processing of the shot, so the colors look more flat right out of the camera but since they have more detail they are better suited to processing on your computer. In theory this should make it easier to "match" shots taken with different cameras so a completed video looks the same all the way through...if that makes sense. Here is what GoPro says...and remember the files will be a lot bigger...

High Quality Image Capture
Protunes’s 35Mbps data rate provides less compressed cinema quality image giving content creators more flexibility in post production.
Neutral Color
Protunes neutral color profile offers more flexibility during post production color correction. Protunes log curve captures more detail in shadows and highlight.
Film/TV Frame Rate Standard
Now record video in 24FPS and easily intercut GoPro content with other source media without needing to perform FPS conversion.
