thanks Kendall the first problem i see with the d600 is the mode knob--it looks like the one on the d7000 which is unacceptable. The mode knob on the d7000 has no lock so in using the camera you can change the mode unintentionally. will not buy one if that is the case.

still interested if Nikon will be releasing the D400

And, they lowered the shutter sync! CRAP!

Here is a test of the Nikon full frame sensors...D800E came out on top which is expected I guess.

The Canon OS 5D Mark III got an 81 mostly due to less dynamic range.

According to the reviews it has a lock on the mode knob.

lets hope so --if it did not you could not give me one. We have to tape down the knob on the D7000--that takes care of the problem --nice bright gaffers tape

So far looks like a great camera. If it would shoot video at 1080 60p I would get one to replace my consumer camcorder.
