2017 VCFA House Report #7

Postby fishermike » Sat Oct 21, 2017 8:55 pm

Hi! Another really good day on the water. The albies were fussy, but we were able to take a number of them. They coughed up larger bait today, 4" silversides, needle fish, butterfish, and squid among the stuff they upchucked at the boat. We had 4 boats out today, one hooked 6 and landed 5, another hooked 7 and 5 landed, another hooked 13 and landed 6, and the last one hooked 5 but didn't land any so they get the participation award for the day for 31 hooked and 16 landed. That brings the house total for the year to 128 hooked and 70 landed, well past our pace from last year! It all started inside the Hook around 8:45 and lasted for a couple of hours and then we went out behind the trawlers and drifted and trolled and got a number of hookups before ending the day back at the Hook. The afternoon Hook bite wasn't anywhere close to what it has been the last couple of days, but we did manage a few hookups. We really had to work for the fish we got today, but it was all fun! :D Hopefully it will continue tomorrow and Mon before the big blow hits on Tues. But I am looking forward to Tues for a down day of tying and getting some food and some rest. Getting old is not fun!! Same flies worked today as before. Hope to see you all hooked up tomorrow, tight lines, mike
