Strange Weather Specks

Postby SOBX » Tue Dec 03, 2013 3:50 pm

After fishing what I'd describe as a perfect trout day yesterday at the CALO jetty and getting swamped with spikes and some of the smallest bluefish known to mankind (still capable of trashing very nice flies), the creeks were calling my name.

Hooked up the skiff, made a call to a fishing buddy named Willis, grabbed a 4 and a 5wt, filled up with some non-ethanol, splashed the skiff and lost one on the first cast, thank God (first cast specks are bad luck).

But from the second cast on, we did right fair with decent fish,

that put smiles on our faces and bends in our little sticks!

Must have had 3 1/2 dozen willing fish and the fly du jour was a tutti frutti (elec chicken) Clouser tossed on both 200 grain sinktip and clear-tip intermediate lines. Water temps are all over the place and probably higher than they need to be to really get things right, but who could complain about a pretty day like today in December, damn sure not me and Jan!

Good Fishing!!!
