Net boats

Postby lineastenso » Mon Nov 18, 2013 1:42 pm

For twelve years I've watched the funky looking net boats race around the Hook and never once saw them catch a fish until this year. Arnold Asdenti said this haul was 2400 pounds of sea mullet.

they would be jumping mullet --silver mullet

sea mullet are caught in deeper water and not with strike nets

Thanks for the clarification. We saw them jumping for several days but had no idea how thick that school was. I wonder with all the effort (#'s of netters) how often they get a set with this result?

They have the stop nets over here from AB to EI - very good place to find drum and trout stacked up round those nets. Used to do that stuff quite a bit and have seen times of nothing to times of 5 and 6 thousands pounds. Pretty cool
