Emerson, you need a "Lyle gun".... a line-throwing cannon. Shoot a
line up to the pier, then hopefully one of the pier-jockeys will secure it for you. If you need to return the boat, you can rig up a Breeches Buoy on a traveling block. Kinda like the jungle canopy ride in CR.

These old devices saved many lives, but alas they do not use them
any more ... because they now have Tracy M.

From Friday morning. If NOAA considers this to be light and variable, I do not want to see what conditions they consider to be rough.

I had a trout fisherman from Asheville on board who brought a buddy who did know which end of the rod to hold onto. After I explained how to operate a spinning rod, it only took him 10 minutes to wrap my prop up. Needless to say he didn't get a chance to get his hands on another rod.
We gritted it out and managed to get a couple of AJ's in the boat before we turned tail and took our beating to get back across the shoals. Mission accomplished.

My rods were already rigged and it was go time.

The couple of AJ's we boated were caught on one my Ron Dong Crease Flys tied tube style. Worked like a champ. The hooked buried in the corner of the fishes mouth and the fly worked its way up the leader.
I am heading to Baja in a few weeks and I have been told that Captains can be tough on removing your flies. While we are down, if it is comes close to be as rough as it has been this past weekend, you can find me sitting in the A/C wasting away in Margarittaville.
