Simplest panfish tie ...

Most may prefer a topwater fly for panfish, so if you wanna experience them smacking the bug on the surface, fine.

If you just wanna "catch" at any subsurface depth, try this one. Could not be simpler: Gray yarn wrapped on shank as a body, a wrap of black yarn as a head. Done. Trout will eat it also. Has worked well for me since The Cuban Missile Crisis.

Don't forget to tie some in Olive also. Deadly.

Yep, green, olive, tan, and other earth-tone colors work well for the body.
