Looking for a sand flea pattern

Postby evofly » Sun Aug 04, 2013 8:34 am

Anyone has a good sand flea pattern? I wanted to play with some pompono out front and thought a same flea pattern would be the ticket.

Thanks

I would not call it a pattern but I have caught them on basiclly a large nymph. Used a #4 or 6 hook, wrapped with tan chenille and then palmered some tan hackle over that. trimmed off the hackle on top.
not fancy but has worked for us.

Cool thanks. I was thinking of doing one with orange estaz as a belly and some sort of brown back. How'd you fish it? Use a sinking line or intermediate?

With me it would have been an intermediate or a Tenny 250 head on a Scott 7 weight. Just about the only rod and line lines I use inshore. Haven't used a floating line in many years.

bonefish flies work as well i tied one with tan chennille and a hot orange butt with lead eyes and orange flash for the wing, fished with an intermediate line.
