June 20 Cobia Hunting...

Postby kendalloz » Wed Jun 20, 2012 4:03 pm

Great sight hunting conditions today...sunny and very very calm. Took a 5-hour trip to the Bay to look for cobia. Hour out hour back 3- fishing. Saw a total of 12 cobia (most in a day for me) got good shots at around 4 hooked one small one who came to the boat. Most fish were small and all swimming in the same direction...south! Sorry no pics and the video is crummy....the water was so calm that the camera kept hunting for focus and it did not work! The fish were between Thimble Shoals light (Hampton) and the CBBT. It was so calm I tried to take video of the fish that were making a wake on the surface and that did not work either. :?

Sounds like a great time KO even though the filming was not. Rather have good fishing than good filming..just sayin'

Thanks for the heads-up.
12 sightings in a day is impressive.

Glad you found them KO! It sure has been perfect site fishing conditions for the cobes this week. I need to get out there!

Some VCFA folks have taken Mark Sedotti out today...I am sure they will see some just hope they get some to bite. I will post a report if/when I get any news or check the VCFA facebook page.

They had one cobia put it's mouth on a fly but it did not get hooked.
