Last trip to HRBT

Postby mb82 » Tue Nov 30, 2010 11:37 am

Thats it I am done with the place.
Got out last night with XXXI2 before we loaded my big kayak into my apartment. Night started off with flat calm conditions and within 5 minutes XXXI2 was hooked up on a nice little schoolie. We both got excited thinking ok finally our luck has changed. NOPE! I saw two more fish that night they swam right past my fly and one hit my kayak as it swam under it. Rest of the season will be spent at CBBT I think.

Oh yeah and if this makes any sense. 2.5 ft longer boat that weighs nearly twice as much is easier to get into and out of my place.

CBBT on Kayaks? Might be a bit more interesting.

Seems like fish numbers are down all over this year. Sorry you have had some tough trips...keep at it.

Hahaha, good times.
I will put a positive spin on the trip with an awesome list of happenings: (1) I caught 1/3 of the fish that I saw; (2) I finally caught a striper in the new kayak; (3) we didn't capsize; and (4) you gave me some tea for the road (thanks).

I'm not ready to entirely give up on the HRBT for this year, but I definitely have a different mindset about the place now.
I'm down for a CBBT trip whenever.

Yeah it was a good time. I am just frustrated I guess. I hope these low stocks don't cause mention of the M word. Well since I don't keep fish I guess that word does not effect me.
I guess I should say half the fish I saw ended up making contact with my kayak.

Something to be said about being out there, fish will come. I see a break in the weather on Friday and think I'll have a go. Not sure where yet but will figure something out.
