I'm definitely not SOBX

Postby mb82 » Sat Sep 18, 2010 4:43 pm

Spent some time on the Lafayette this afternoon. Decided if I didn't get out of my apartment more then my lunch at Doumar's today I might go insane. Lots of casting not even a bump. Paddled around a bunch covered some water. Winds were annoying, never stayed in one direction so trying to set up a drift was impossible.
Oh well back to the books.

Glad you got out. I have been a bum today. I did change the oil in one of our cars today.

SOBX right now your the gold standard.

Heck I was hoping to foul hook one of the hundreds of menhaden breaking the surface around me all day. Stupid things were at one point breaking in a school and I thought I had a school of small blues hitting bait, paddled over there only to be disappointed.

Next time that happens, let the fly sink (maybe even go to a sinking or sinktip line), you might be pleasantly surprised with what is waiting deep! ;) We've been nailing nice blues, large spanish and small kings using this technique and Lord knows how many have sliced through 30/40lb fluro!!!

No "gold standard", just an old boy who gets to go more than he deserves due to marrying better than he deserved, talking her into moving to the coast, and finding Harkers Island before some of the other folks from "off"!

If you get down this way, we'll bend some sticks and I'll work on elevating you cussing techniques to just shy of an art form!

Good Fishing!!!

I was using 30ft of T-8 on my 6wt. Not sure if getting deep was my issue, maybe going too deep.

I might have to take you up on the offer though you know I bring similar weather to Emerson right?

You only seem to bring rain Jeff. and at least the times I've fished with you the fish have shown up.

Yeah those are good weather days. Ask ToddK about how often 5-10W turns into 15-20NE days.
