so i take you you are looking at the D800e?? This is the one optimized for RAW images. Can't understand why they would make the other one?? Looks like the E will be a touch harder to get as they are taking pre orders for a limited release.

Interesting. Looks like the 800e is the choice for outside use. But since moire is an issue with DSLRs in the video mode, I wonder if the standard 800 is better if you want to do a lot of video as well as photos. Hmmmmm. If I was only gonna shoot photos outside I'd get the 800e. If I was a wedding shooter I'd get the 800.

I think the large sensor and all them pixels would make it easier to try to follow jumping fish..you would not have to zoom in so close...more likely to get the jump then you'd could still do a lot of cropping and have a super sharp image.

All dreaming.... ;)

Talk about resolution, this this camcorder shoots 3840 x 2160! So much data coming out that it has 4 data streams going to 4 separate Sd cards!

yep here is one that a friend of ours is looking at--takes all the cannon SLR lens. They are pros. I just read the specs and have no idea what they are talking about

Without the AA filter moire patterns will happen on any detailed repetitive subject so we are going with the regular version. Shirts and so-on can be a bear without the AA, all sorts of stuff - the 800 is going to do such a great image anyhow that the incremental gains aren't useful for 99% of users.

Is the frame rate limited by the speed of the flash memory? If yes, then there might be some relief on the horizon. I've been experimenting with new SSD hard drives on computers, and there have been some recent technology improvements that are amazing. The flash memory in the SSDs are now rated at over 550 MB/s for sequential writes (bursts), and can sustain about half that rate for continuous writes. That's about 3x what I've seen in the past - and translates into a Windows system booting in about 12 seconds. If flash memory has been the speed bottleneck on cameras, you might see some nice improvements when manufactures move the memory to consumer flash cards.... Don

i am pretty stupid when it comes to tech stuff on cameras--i am sure Biff can answer your questions or tells

they do have some amazing fast flash cards out now --my faster 16gb card writs at 300x now they have them up to 1000x but not sure on how fast the camera can write to the card
