I did it. I bought a yak.

Postby ecks » Fri Sep 11, 2009 4:21 pm

I fished around OI for last the 2 weeks from shore and did fair. After talking to several yakkers who were doing much better I decided that I would have a yak for next year. Well as soon as I got back to Jersey I went and bought a Cobra fish n dive kayak. Can't wait til next year's trip down!

A relative has that boat. Loves it. Beamy and stable.

Hint: Because it is beamier (wider) than most yaks, get a paddle that is a little "longer" than usual.

After wade fishing OI this past August, I've been finding myself gazing at REI and other websites ogling over kayaks. I agree that there is a certain allure to being able to cover copious amounts of water and shedding the waders! This summer...

Not as copias as a center console but very rewarding when you paddle 4 miles and get that great catch. Getting my new one next week. Congrats! Im sure you will have a good time on it!

Ecks where do you live in Jersey? I have always wanted to go back and fish the Barnegat or Cape may jetties. Used to catch lots of fish off them.
