Um everywhere....

Postby hh65cdr » Sun Jul 12, 2009 10:24 pm

Headed out at 530 this morning wanting to go fish the AR296 behind hateras. Wind suggested no way! Ended up at Candian Hole. What a great yak hole. Tore the blues up for about an hour. What great fun on a 6wt. Not the little guys but not the monsters either. I have never fished there before but wow! I mean wow! What a great fishing spot. I had hoped to put a Gray trout on the log but settled with the blues. Broke my St Croix 6wt which realy blew the day. I have caught so many fish on it. I think I can save it with a little epoxy. We shall see. I dont like St Croix return fix policy but oh well. Might buy a new Sage. Got home at 3 and headed out on the Currituck with my girl friend on her new yak. Good times but we got ran off by thunderstorms. Was hoping to put her on some trout or flatties. Cant get photo bucket to load pics. Will put them up when it starts working. Later Tracy

Good work Tracy
Sounds like good fun.
Too bad about the 6wt. St Croix fixed spinning rod for me last year - No Questions.

Tracy,

we have not had good luck right at the AR296...but in front of it more towards Frisco, we have had spanish and blues...weather permitting.....they are up and down real fast..just look for terns...they are eating very small silversides.... the fish have been in about 7 feet of water ...there is a channel that runs from Hatteras and snakes along towards Buxton..just in there

also if you follow the channel markers all the way around clam shoal to marker #2...you can see the Canadian hole from there...we had a super day on speckled trout...we were just east of the #2 marker in 5 feet of water. At the #2 the water could be as deep as 17 feet..keep going east until it comes up..huge flat there...

great Canadian hole info!

Thanks Emerson for the intel. Hope to head back down there this friday when Im off next. Not sure if that is too far to paddle or not but going to give it a shot weather permitting. Im itching to get a smack on the fly.
