New Mod

Postby hh65cdr » Sat Jun 26, 2010 12:35 am

Modified my kayak cart at work tonight. Made it more DUNE friendly. Put the wheelezz wheels on it to get on the sand. Had to make new axles for it. Spent more then I wanted too but way less then buying a whole new cart.

Here is a great how to build your own kayak cart.

This is my next DIY project - a scupper hole cart.

Anchor trolley - check. Rod holders - check. Stakeout pole and holder - check. Lugging a 57# kayak to its launch point - a royal PITA!!!

Dreams of a 57lb kayak. Mine is ~75lbs. I have one that is ~50 and it is a dream to pick up and walk to the ramp.

Thats why I have the overbuilt dolly I have. By overbuilt I mean can handle probably 800lbs on it before bending. never did the engineering on it. Ok well there was some SAE( Sam Adams Engineering) involved but thats all.

I guess I should have clarified. 57# is the 'factory weight'; add in all the accessories and I'm sure it weighs more, but not 75#.

I've always said that it's not necessarily heavy, but it is bulky!
