Double Haul

Postby hh65cdr » Sat Sep 05, 2009 10:55 pm

Its sad. I always thought I was a coordinated person. I can fly RC Planes, Helicopters and have even flown a real helicopter. I used to 2 step back in TN. But it has sadly taken me 4 years to finaly get the double haul. For some odd reason it just clicked out in the back yard tonight. :D I think Sarah would laugh at me but be proud of me at the same time.

Tracy, just to clarify ... I don't think Sarah would laugh "at you" ... but rather "with you". ;)

Me thinks you are "Teacher's Pet".

Double-haul is now another arrow in your quiver.

Kendal, Im a mechanic. Every so often the pilots let us get a little stick time. Its a real treat to get to drive it down the beach.

So that explains that helicopter 2 years ago flying down the beach weaving and not being able to hold altitude ;)

My hand hurts after flying one. I put a death grip on the stick. Pilots laugh and say Im trying to squeeze the black juice out of it.

That's almost a must have move if you're going to be throwing in the surf. Nice job. Now if you go freshwater trout nymphing and try to double haul a tandem fly rig with weight and indicator you will have yourself a nice birds nest. I had to learn to turn off my double haul!

It is a little scary with vintage bamboo rods too. A friend handed me his prized 4wt cane to throw at Tiefest a couple years ago. I had just put down a 10wt Xi2. The first cast I flexed it so deep in the handle I was sure it was going to splinter. There was no second cast.
