Equipment Rental

Postby tomdincher » Fri Jun 19, 2009 2:38 pm

My family and I will be in Duck late July. We are considering some fly fishing. Some of us have salt water gear and some have only fresh water equipment. Will we be able to rent salt water outfits?

Most FF Guides furnish equipment. But if you are looking for renting fly gear for the week--i do not believe so. TWs only carries a tiny amount of fly gear and most other places carry none.

There's nothing to say you can't use your freshwater gear; you just have to rinse it well and service it properly after use...

Thanks. I got the same advice from a knowledgeable guy at Bass Pro Shops.

Freshwater gear works fine, We use ours, I use a 7wt and my son used an 8wt, they worked fine.
Just rinse them real good when your done. (Same rods we use on Bass)
Harry Murray (Murray's fly shop) also confirmed this too for us, Freshwater gear is fine for Wading and Surf.
If you go with a guide they have gear too.
