OI 7-25

Postby hh65cdr » Sun Jul 26, 2009 4:40 pm

Took a high school buddy and his son fishing around the inlet yesterday. Pretty neat to see them catch 5 species on there first saltwater fishing trip. On the soundside they caught small sea bass, croaker, pinfish, lizard fish and pigfish. After that died off went over to the jetty looking for some blue fish. No one was home over there but grass. Good times and Im pretty sure I got a 16 year old hooked on fishing.

good job Tracy
that of course is what we want our young ones hooked on
now true to the OBFC
get him interested in salt water fly fishing!

I fished Saturday morning with my 18 year old son
blue fish, pig fish and flounder on the fly but no love on the specks
we were near the sparkies down south so we fished from 6:00 to 10:00
if we could have waited the tide may have started up the specks

George, I have found a pretty good system to get youngsters hooked. K-mart has a light weight zebco spin combo for 12 bucks. It makes any croaker feel like a monster. Once I saw he was hooked I gave him the rod. Way more rewarding for me then any fish I have caught on the fly. He was all about the pullage so flyfishing will be cake to introduce. :D
