fly fishing for red drum

Postby paul » Tue May 14, 2013 3:37 pm

Our family will be coming down for a week starting May 19, any recommendations on where to try, this is the first time we are trying fly fishing on OBX we are staying in Avon but think I will try behind the Bodie light house? I would like to try wadding out a little? If anyone is interested in showing us around would appreciate it and would welcome the chance to show off some of the waters near us in Pa. (Susquehanna River for small mouth of a limestone creek for trout)
We know when, where, and how here but want to learn more about fly-fishing the OBX.
If no one has the time can anyone recommend a guide?
Thanks
Paul from Pa.

do not have any reports form Avon but check with Frank and Frans Tackle Shop in Avon he will know what is going on down there. Hard to target reds but this year should be better than most. Bodie island light is a good bet. If you are looking for a wading guide i do not know of any. If you want a boat guide we can hook you up--should be great bluefish, specks and puppies to had. We will be getting back in Town on the 20th. Let us know if you are interested.
