Chumming Jun 14

Postby Reefing » Mon Jun 15, 2009 7:42 pm

Went chumming with a friend who does not fish much on Sunday. Fished bait, I did not bring the fly, I was busy tying knots and explaining the process to my friend. Hopefully I can break him in on the fly next. Set out the chum bag south of the boiler and after 15 minutes, we had our first sharpnose on. After that it was blacktips and sharpnose for most of the morning until a big splash exploded on the squid. Dolphin! After the usual aerobatics we had her in the box. More sharks and we hooked another dolphin, a bull this time, but a poorly tied knot (@$#!$ rrrrrgh!) failed and we lost him after a flurry of jumps. Great day on the water, only wished I had brought the flyrod.

Right before fillet time...
