VCFA House Re[ort #17

Postby fishermike » Thu Nov 03, 2016 5:48 pm

Hi! Another great day on the water :D and maybe the last one for the house this year. :geek: :| We ran into them immediately under some pelicans off Shackleford Is and caught 3 and then they disappeared so we headed for the small trawlers off Shackleford and hooked a few more before moving on to the bigger trawlers in the Beaufort Channel and they did not disappoint with lots of albies and some sharks thrown in. We continued here until the wind picked up some more and waves started to get just a little too high to our liking and we headed back to the Hook along Shackleford and got behind another small trawler and hooked up again. Then we headed back to the hook and when we started to see lots of albie marks on the depth finder, we put out our trolling lines and hooked up almost immediately. There were no splashes that we could see among the waves, but they were there and we caught 7 before heading in. We had two boats out today and one hooked 14 and landed 11 and the other hooked 13 and landed 7 for a house total of 27 hooked and 18 landed. We now have smashed all of our previous totals and this is by far the best year we have had with 419 hooked and 287 landed. We had another albie lost to a shark and they all seem to be the largest ones! So far everyone who stayed at the house has caught at least one albie. We had no days where no albies were caught. Just lots of bests including most broken rods, 5, most lost fly lines, 6, but those negatives cannot take anything away from the just fantastic fishing we have had over the last 3 weeks, and we are already looking forward to next year. If you think you might want to get in on some of this action next year, just shoot me an email at mike4519@verizon.net and we will try to fit you in. The weather tomorrow is expected to blow and continue into Sat, and hopefully they are wrong and we can get out again, but it not, it has been great and thanks to all. Tight lines, mike buss
