VCFA House Report #2

Postby fishermike » Sun Oct 16, 2016 8:22 pm

Hi! The action continued again today as we ran into them about 2 miles west of the #2 marker first thing in the morning :D and it continued for a couple of hours before ending. After it ended, we kept searching for them in the same general area to no avail. We lost about an hour of prime time with busting fish all around the boat as we untangled a line that got tangled in the motor. The only silver lining in that is that we usually have that happen once during the trip before we make special attention so it doesn't happen again. At least we got that over with and should not have to deal with it again. We then headed over to Atlantic Beach to get in behind the trawlers, but by the time we got there it appeared the action was already over. So we had a late lunch before heading back to the hook area and got back around 2:30, just in time to get some shots at albies along the beach just north of the rock jetty. It got just a little too shallow for us so we stayed off a little and watched the zoo develop around just a couple of pods of albies. At one time there were 5 boats surrounding a single pod of busting albies, so we headed over to the spit and there was a lot of action just off the beach. I do have one request for all of us boaters, please, if you see someone on the beach, let them get the shots, don't come in and try to cast to albies busting just off the beach. Those sand people have probably been there all day long and when they finally get some action, here come the boats to crowd them out. We in the boats can go any where, the sand people are limited. We had some action today as we hooked 8 and landed just 3 bringing the house total to 15 hooked and just 5 hooked. We will have to work on the landing part, but the hooking is exciting. Looking for more action tomorrow. :) Thanks and tight lines, mike buss

Thanks again for the update. I'm Willi and they'll be a group of us in your neighborhood starting Friday night. I'll stop by and say Hi! Ditto on leaving the beach guys to their fish. Last year I watched a guy in a boat cut off a wading angler's Albie along with his flyline.
