when we first started fishing behind the trawlers (the day of the pig picking) intermediate lines were fine as the season progressed you needed to get deeper. There were also a lot of big fish --sadly the worse the weather the bigger the fish

The only rod I had with me with any kind of sinking line was my 12 wt. redfish rig. Later Matti made any observation that a quick fight kept the school on the transom as long as the engine was idling in neutral. And the fish were big enough that most of the time a 12 wt. didn't give me that much of an edge.
